Project X @Chef Boutique

Im sure most of you have read about Project X on other blogs (coz I’ve been so busy with 2 projects and a baby and didn’t get to post about it 😦 ) If not, lets introduce you to what it is! Its basically a fun bloggers version of the Master Chef series! And because King and I are the royalty of cooking (major joke) we are participating!!!! *YAAAY*

The project is being hosted by Chef Boutique and is created by them and the masterminds Ahmad Al Hindi from Food Maestros and Basma Al Musalam from the blog 13 Cups.

Yesterday they invited us in for an orientation at Chef Boutique and that made us even more excited about the event! The orientation was soooo much fun, we got to learn how to operate a few of their cooking toys so we know our way around as well as the wonderful Chef Paul teaching us some cutting techniques which I realized I really suck at ;p

I was actually very impressed with the layout of Chef Boutique especially it being our first time in the place, they offer top notch cooking accessories and all you need to get to be familiarized with basics cooking and more.

Also you could sign up with daily cooking methods and techniques with their daily/weekly cooking learning classes. To sign up contact Chef Boutique at

Weaning Tara

Weaning a baby is so much Fun!! Maybe it’s my love for food that makes me so excited to feed my baby or how funny she looks while she’s eating, but I honestly must say I think in having more fun than her! Lol!
I thought I’d share some of the things that helped make this process simpler and more enjoyable for both T and myself.
The most important person in this process is Tara’s God mother Jumana AlOthman who is a Public Health Nutritionist and she is my number 1 go to person if I’ve got any questions or concerns. She kinda bullied me into feeding T everything home made and natural. I was heading to the Coop to get some baby rice when she scolded me into making it at home :p I just love her. If you’ve got any Nutritional questions you could find her in The Kuwait Counseling Center (+965)25356444 or

I’m also a sucker for gadgets and other things that make my life easier :p I know it’s easy to just mash things or mix by hand but I like feeling like I’m creating something complex Lol

Moulinex Baby Chef is the cutest thing EVER! It’s even tiny like a baby! As Jumana says, I can’t use it to mash the food as the blender would break down the healthy starches and I should instead use a fork or hand masher, but I can use it for mixing different purés together.

Dr. Browns hand masher is nice and easy to make a fast purée and it looks cute too :p you can find it in or Baroue.

Now this thing is the most fun ever!! My sister got for me a while ago from Oleana Boutique and I just couldn’t wait to use it! It’s a hand held compact food masher with an attached spoon for on the go feeding. Perfect for leaving it in your baby’s diaper bag.

BPA free spoons, cutlery case and food storage bowl from Mother Care in the cutest colors!

Last but not least checkout Annabel Karmel’s books from That Al Salasil or her application for the App store to make things simpler and easier for you. Great for working mummies!

Pick Yo the Great

The other day the sweet Lady B was tweeting that she was craving papaya with frozen yogurt. I’m not a fan of frozen yogurt but the thought of anything with papaya (which I call the love fruit) makes me drool!! So I replied that I’m starting to crave it too and Pick Yo with their amazing customer service tweeted back that they’ll make it happen! I honestly thought it would take them a while so I was really surprised when 2 days later Lady B contacted me that they’ve got it!! So we headed out there to try it out. The result? EXTRAORDINARY!!!!

Pick YO let me say, you truly changed my opinion about frozen yogurt coz yours was delicious!! And the papaya with it? Helloooo summer lunch!

Lunch at Ubon

After nagging Rashed a fellow colleague at Uni who’s one of the owners of the new soon to be hottest place in town Ubon Thai, on their opening date, he was kind enough to invite me and King over to try their food. King and I love Thai food and we always wondered why we didn’t have any Thai restaurants in Kuwait. Our favorite is Busaba in London which we go to like a thousand times whenever we’re in London.
As soon as I walked into the place it was so obvious that it was designed by Rashed and his partner Dawoud that are both Architects. The place is so well designed it just makes u feel so comfortable.
We sat down and chatted with Rashed then we were ready to dig in!

We started of with their Jumbo shrimps, banana-leaf chicken and fresh salad.

King LOVED the jumbo shrimps, and for a person that doesn’t like shrimps a lot, I also loved it!
The banana-leaf chicken on the other hand was heaven in my mouth! And the whole experience of unwrapping them and dipping them in the sauce added more fun to my taste buds!

King had their Tom Yum soup and he thought it was the best he ever had! I only took a sip of it and it burnt my tongue cause he ordered it super spicy so I didn’t really form an opinion :p

Now the reason why King and I love Thai food!! The curries!!! *YUM*

We had the green chicken curry and red meat curry with jasmine and garlic rice.
Compared to Busaba, this is even better! So fragrant, so fresh and so flavorful! It really made us very happy!

I had to force myself to stop eating so I could leave some room for dessert and I’m so glad I did.

We had fried bananas with a honey dip and Thai iced coffee. The fried bananas were so light and their texture was the right mix of crispy and tender. The iced coffee is another story! I think as soon as the open I would be passing there every morning for it.

Ubon is located in Kuwait City and set to open soon, Rashed please hurry up or I’ll be demanding another visit :p
Follow them on twitter @ubonkw to find out exactly when they open.

Friday Adventures

Every Friday is my girls night out, for the past 2 months we spend it at my friend F’s house. Since the weather got colder we sit in the garden with the duwwah and grill stuff. I on the other hand spend it in a food adventure, mixing stuff with my corn and chestnuts like nuttela, coconut and paprika.
Today on the other hand we were bbqing burgers and I wanted my friends to join my adventure. I told them I’m making the basting sauce and I made one with Dijon,Tabasco, tomato paste and NESQUIK! It was amaaaazing! I’m posting this and they still don’t know about the Nesquick lol.
